Join Africa began with a simple observation on safari: guides are the heart of the experience.
Their knowledge, instinct, and storytelling shape every unforgettable moment yet most travelers never get to choose who guides them. Guides remain invisible until the day of the trip, and their reputations live in word of mouth rather than in any system designed to showcase their skill.
That realisation sparked the idea for Join Africa. Launched by Purple Elephant Ventures, a Nairobi-based tourism-tech venture studio, and Boston Venture Studio, co-founded by Kayak founder Paul English, we set out to build technology that supports and elevates the guiding community. Our goal is to connect African guides with travelers around the world and to give those travelers the ability to choose their guide before they book.
